First, we went to Scoop-n-Save, in downtown Langley.  ‘One of my favorite places!’ Thea enthused.  ‘I used to buy all my specialty items – lustre dust, dowling – from the States, until I discovered Scoop-n-Save!’

This small store on Fraser Highway is neatly stuffed with cake decorating supplies, chocolate supplies, rolled fondant supplies, bulk candles; they even rent cake pans. Co-owner Janice was kind enough to let me take a photo inside the shop:

Next up -  Lentia, where Thea picked up an expensive 1kg container of raspberry ‘fruchtpaste’, made by Dreidoppel in Germany.  ‘I like to use European ingredients’, she said, ‘they are the best quality’.

Thea was excited about our next stop, Essential Packaging.  ‘It’s my favorite place ever! Heaven – it’s packaging heaven!  – it’s got everything you could ever want- ribbons, boxes, colored boxes, colored paper – its beautiful, I could spend hours in there and still feel like I could need more time.  … that crinkly paper you could put inside packages, like that easter paper, every single box shape and color you can imagine, every wrapping paper, clear, patterns, metallic, invitation cards …’

One groom this weekend is allergic to dairy products, and Thea needed a butter substitute that she can trust – so for our last stop, we headed to Choices.  She found two different products to try out – expensive, like most things at Choices, but undeniably excellent quality.
