Would you pay $1,830 (US) for a slice of wedding cake?
August 27, 2009Not all wedding cake is thrown away after a wedding!
On this day last year, a piece of wedding cake from the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981 was sold for $1,000 UK pounds (approx $1,830 US).
The cake had been sent to the Queen Mother at Clarence House. The auctioned nine-inch slice had been wrapped in cling film in an attic for 27 years.

Marzipan with white icing, with sugar work of the royal coat-of-arms in gold, blue, and silver, with a small silver horseshoe and leaf spray, the cake had been given to Mrs. Moyra Smith, a Scottish servant at Clarence House; it was her wish that the cake be sold after her death for charity.
The buyer, a collector of royal memorabilia, remains anonymous.
In other Princess Di news, a comic book based on her life was published this April; part of a comic book series called Female Force, which has also done issues about Caroline Kennedy, Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. Other books planned include Condoleeza Rice and Michelle Obama.
Just thought you would like to know.
RIP Princess Di.
