Finishing Touches: The Art of Cake Decorating
August 6, 2009
Not just limiting itself to cake decoration, ‘Finishing Touches’ also delves into marzipan, working with chocolate, using figurines and other such embellishments. It has some great pictures, some stencils and recipes, and gives instructions without really discussing overall technique. In other words, it describes how to do things, without telling you why you want to do them.
This book doesn’t quite cut it for me – it is not one I would ever turn to, as it isn’t practically useful. The Wilton series of books (The Wilton Way of Cake Decorating) – are far more detailed, a much better resource, and staggeringly cheap on Amazon to boot! Find them instead of this competent, but unnecessary, guidebook.
