Cake Decorating Sugar Craft
June 18, 2009
‘Sugar Craft’ is one of 3 books about cake decoration written by these two authors; the others are ‘Cake Decorating’ and ’101 Cake Decorating Ideas’. As you can probably guess by those titles, these books are relatively basic in tone and content, and are written with the beginner or mid-level baker in mind.
That said, there are quite a few useful bits in this book, that don’t pop up in similar books – templates for cameos, monograms, and baby boots; some good ideas for marzipan models; and lots of different scripts and fonts for letters. The sugar flower section isn’t very impressive, and overall this isn’t a very strongly themed cake book, as it seems to wander all over the map…
This book has some uses, but not many; and won’t be a ‘must-have’ for any collection; so don’t go out of your way to pick it up.
Interesting article – I think that the book cover may say it all, it looks very old fashioned, I’m not sure that it would inspire me in a book store to pick it up!
