recycling your Bridesmaid Gown – the Cinderella Project
When Sarah at DreamGroup mentioned that this year’s Brock House Wedding Show will be partnering up with the Cinderella Project, I was intrigued, and went to look at their website. I am so glad I did!
Basically, the Cinderella Project provides formal clothes for underprivileged high school graduates, so they can attend their grad ceremonies with pride. These ‘cinderellas and cinderfellas’ have typically overcome serious adversity to get to their grad; many are chronically ill or disabled, others are single parents or responsible for supporting and caring for other family members. Graduating high school while dealing with such serious issues is an incredible accomplishment, which deserves to be celebrated wholeheartedly.
Every year the Cinderella Project (100% volunteer-driven) brings more than 150 of these disadvantaged successful students to Boutique Day, where a ‘fairy godmother’ or ‘fairy godfather’ helps them select their wardrobe and accessories, hair and makeup, fussing over them and pampering them – a wonderful day of encouragement and positive reinforcement that will resonate for years. How wonderful is that!!
The kind hearts at DreamGroup realized that there are many bridesmaid dresses that are barely used after a wedding, and would be deeply appreciated by the Cinderella Project, and so came up with a great idea for this year’s Brock House Wedding Show (Sunday October 18). It goes like this:
‘If you purchase 1 ticket and bring a gently used bridesmaids dress to the show, you will receive a second ticket for free’
Isn’t that a wonderful idea?
