“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well” – Virginia Woolf, a Room of One’s Own.
Food is not something we merely consume to function, rather we have the privilege to enjoy every bite, whether we do so alone in a state of reflection, at a feast with friends and relatives, or during a romantic evening with your love. Good, quality food leaves us satisfied. And since the best is saved for last, dessert should never be lacking in palate or excellence.
The concept of dedication to quality takes me back to the movie Kate and Leopold. Leopold is an English Aristocrat who travels in time from the year 1876 to 2001, England to New York. The story highlights how the modern day lifestyle, with regards to food, has traded in dedication to quality and satisfactory taste for chemically altered, culinary disasters. Leopold enlightens Kate on his view of dining when he says, “Where I come from, the meal is the result of reflection and study, menus are prepared in advance, timed to perfection. It is said, without the culinary arts the crudeness of reality would be unbearable.”
Well, thankfully you don’t have to travel back to 1876 to experience food the way it was meant to be, simple, fresh, and made from scratch. Dedication to quality, careful planning, and attention to detail are all alive and well at Sweet Thea Bakery. The result? Palate pleasing culinary art that is Simply Better.
